Back in April 2019 I participated in the inaugural 'Isola 6+6' cycle event, a 1200km Randonee starting in Sardinia and finishes in Sicily. The format was simple, the riding anything but. The ride began in Cagliari and traced a northern route towards to mountains in the interior, a 600km loop taking in the high ground before returning to the coast and south to Cagliari. Oh, and the event started at midnight.
Once completed, riders make their way to the port and board the overnight ferry to Sicily. A chance to rest a little then before embarking on the next leg, a 595 km stage across northern Sicily from Palermo via the foothills of Etna and onwards to Messina before tracing back along the coast to Palermo.
