In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

‘All those people, all those lives, where are they now?’ sang Morrisey on ‘Cemetery Gates’ and as People Week comes to an end the same sentiments apply. So let’s finish with a selfie, the most immediate and contemporary form of portrait photography. Rewind to the Swiss Alps in March 2019 and a days ski touring in a blizzard, the shot shows a nice contrast with the red, blue and green vivid against the whiteout.
