In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

With some time to kill before a late flight back , I took a walk to a high-rise restaurant and viewing platform. It was an interesting journey, deserted pavements disappeared leaving no option but to join the road traffic but the view was worth the trip.
