In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

Cusco

Back to Peru for todays edition. I spotted this shop within the main market in Cusco, with it’s a lovely duck-egg blue paintwork and neatly arranged shelves it’s quite the picture. The owner concentrating on his figures and the person walking into the frame all add up to a pleasing set-up. Cusco is the tourist centre of Peru, gateway to the Sacred Valley and Machu Pichu but a pretty nice place to hole up for a few days. Back in 2018 England had just won the World Cup quarter final and we spent the evening in a cocktail bar singing along to ‘Three Lions’ on the house Karaoke. Good times.
