Alfaminha
Here’s a shot taken in the Alfama district of Lisbon back in June 2014. A web-developer friend was based there so I made a few trips there over the years and it’s noticeable how much the city changed over that time. I doubt there are many abandoned properties in the city centre now but going back only ten years ago much of the central district was in a state of disrepair. It’s still a beautiful city, full of character and charm but I guess with gentrification what you gain on one side you lose on the other. I like the little details in this shot - the red fire hydrant keying in with the heart on the wall, the fish illustration on the tile and the angled title on the awning.
