I first saw this view in 1989 on my first trip to the Algarve and revisit it pretty much every year since then. Looking west from behind the first tee on the Royal Course at Vale do Lobo, the ancient tree frames the outlook towards the sea .
In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.
