In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

A place fabled for it’s curious weather, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in SanFrancisco’ wrote Mark Twain. Yet when I was there in November 2016 the weather was just about perfect as I cycled around the city. This is Mission Dolores Park just south of the Mission district captured in the late afternoon sunshine. The days recently here in London have been unseasonably warm too and this photo seems to capture that general mood.
