Burial
My trip to the park yesterday offered a few more good photo opportunities. I like the distressed roof colours, the gloss green paint on the walls and the irregular brickwork on the archway. The district line trains rattle along above, a soundtrack that is part of everyday urban existence. Most of all though I was drawn to the pile of earth in the middle of the tunnel, an ancient burial ground?
It reminded me of some work I did back in the early 2000’s. The studio was tasked with indexing and archiving every single and album release by Universal Music. I remember one design in particular; the cover was a tipper truck and a pile of earth on a building site, desaturated and with no other focal point. The inside pages of the booklet consisted of exactly the same frame, minus the truck so just the pile of earth, and each subsequent image was the pile getting progressively smaller until the final frame was just an empty plot. Good luck getting that past the marketing department these days.
