In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

I’m re-reading Don DeLillo’s epic ‘Underworld’ some 20 years after its publication. A lot has happened in the world since then but the pace of change seems to have passed this neighbourhood by - a stolen glimpse into a courtyard from my last night in Palermo.
