In June 2022 I took on the inaugural Transalp 1200, a bike ride through northern Italy, Austria and Slovenia. The 1250km event started and finished in Verona and took in the South Tirol, the Sillian and Julian Alps along the way.

The beach bar is a common feature throughout Europe but in Italy they take their food pretty seriously too - this one near Menfi serves exceptional seafood pasta. They also operate as a kiosk dispensing drinks, ice cream and coffees to the passing trade - here the lifeguards are fairly under-utilised so double up as baristas and barmen.
